Airbus and Boeing have updated their Market Outlooks, and the scenario continues to be favorable to pilots, after the challenging times faced during the pandemic, with many furloughed or taking pay cuts: both expected a growth in the number of passengers and, hence an increase in demand for aircraft and skilled aviation workforce.
Airbus reports that the number of passengers will double to reach more than 9 billion by 2041. This significant increase will generate a higher than ever demand for skilled labour: 585,000 new pilots, 875,000 new cabin crew and 640,000 new technicians.
Boeing indicates the same trend: As the commercial aviation industry navigates an uneven global recovery from the recent market downturn caused by COVID-19, long-term demand for newly qualified aviation personnel remains strong, as 602,000 new pilots, 899,000 new cabin crew members and 610,000 new maintenance technicians will be needed to fly and maintain the global commercial fleet over the next 20 years.
Although the demand may be higher in different regions, it is expected to increase world-widely:
