All pilots should use an electronic logbook, here's why

Updated: Jul 11, 2022

A pilot's logbook is where you keep track of your career's most important record: your flying hours. Here's a quick review of why you should have an electronic version of it — and why Wader is one of the best choices!

1. Easy and quick to use

An electronic logbook allows you to quickly log your flight by entering departure and arrival times. If you're flying the same aircraft with the same crew, for instance, Wader lets you to automatically copy some info by using the "Next flight" or "Return flight" actions to save you precious time.

2. No more calculation errors

Adding up flight time by hand is a thing from the past. Eventually, there will be a mistake somewhere and good luck trying to find where! With an electronic logbook, though, all flight times are automatically calculated based on your preferences.

You can get alerts if something doesn't look right, like a flight time of more than 18 hours (yes, we have to account for the ultra-long-range flights). Forgot to write down sunset or sunrise times? Don't worry! Night time is calculated for you based on your flight coordinates.

3. Never lose your records

Being your career's most important records, having a single paper logbook that can go missing is a huge risk. An electronic logbook, in the other hand, can be easily duplicated for backup purposes and safely stored.

Moreover, it's even more valuable with cloud syncing, as all this process is safely done for you automatically, so even if your device has a malfunction your records are always safe.

4. 100% accurate flight logging

Nothing can be worse than sending your records to someone and getting a reply that it has errors, specially if you're applying for a job! That's why, when we developed Wader app, we added a feature that highlights if you have any pending flights before you export your logbook.

And then it's easy to find and fix these flights: simply select "Show pending flights" in the "Flights" tab menu and add the pending information.

5. Save space in your flight bag

iPad, kneeboard, headset, clothes... you definitely don't need a large and heavy book occupying a precious space in your bag. With an electronic logbook, you can access it whenever and wherever you want from your mobile.

And even if you want to keep a paper version of your logbook updated, you can log everything on your electronic version and copy the data to the paper one once you are back home.

Using the "Flight summary" screen on Wader app makes it even easier.

AND... that's why it's FREE!

Oh, wait... really?! Yeah! Now that you understand how important an Electronic Logbook is for a pilot's career, you may be thinking why we made it FREE. It's simple: we believe everyone should be able to keep such information safe and handy, so our goal is to make sure you have a proper tool to take care of that, instead of worrying about it during your free time.

Download the app now so you can focus on more important things, like enjoying your free time with family and friends. Keep safe!
