“The strike has ended,” announced the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM).
Boeing machinists have voted to accept a new contract, ending a 7-week strike that halted production of the B737 MAX, B767, and B777 passenger airplanes.
The new agreement, approved by 59% of voters, includes a 38% wage increase over four years.
The previous pension plan—a key point in negotiations—was not reinstated, but the deal boosts Boeing’s matching contributions to employees’ 401(k) plans.
Workers will return to building planes on Wednesday, but production ramp-up will take time due to retraining demands.
B737 MAX deliveries will initially remain in single digits, as Boeing aims to hit its pre-strike target of 38 per month.
